Day 164

Sunday 12/2/12

"Keep close to nature's heart, and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean."

Day 152

Sunday 11/18/12

Despite the rainy/muddy conditions my sister and I decided to check out one of the Muir Heritage Land Trust's properties: Fernandez Ranch (click for more info!).

I accepted a position as a communication/outreach coordinator with the Muir Heritage Land Trust a few days before this hike. I feel so honored to start working towards protecting open spaces in Contra Costa County. This photo project has strengthened my desire to protect our natural resources so that future generations can enjoy the same experiences my family and I have had. And now I have a real, hands-on chance to do just that with the Muir Heritage Land Trust!!

As we pulled in to the parking lot, I was overwhelmed with gratitude and excitement for my new position at MHLT (and for the hike!)

Doggies are allowed, and Bambino loved it! He darted right to this bone (i'm assuming its a cow bone)!

Ferns have a big presence on many parts of the trail.

My sister and Bambino!

Day 143

Friday 11/9/12

Wow! Just spent the whole morning getting all my pictures sorted and uploaded to the blog (last post was OCT 2!!) It has been a busy fall so far, but i've managed to keep the project going strong. A lot has happened since my last post, including the loss of my Grand Auntie (Oct 30). She will always hold a special place in our hearts and she is truly missed. I remember her best as a loving, uplifting person who always had an interesting story to tell.

In other news, WE HAD SNOW ON THE MOUNTAIN yesterday morning! I am sooo glad I was able to get some pictures before it melted (it was gone by noon!) The mountain's changes with each season has been so awesome to watch. It's like a story that couldn't unfold any better!

Also, a big thanks to my cousin who lent me his amazing Canon EOS camera for about a week (oct 23-nov 2) are pictures that were taken with his camera, and the quality is absolutely stunning! Thanks again cuzzo!! Take a few minutes to catch up on October's pictures! Enjoy!
